My name is Greg and I have been on Flex for just under 3 years.   Not to sound cliché at all, but Flex Foods has changed my life in a number of ways.  I would love explain:

A little backround of myself:

  • Growing up I was always fit and active
  • I was a 3 sport varsity athlete in high school and stayed very active in college
  • I have never been a fan of running, lifting, or going to the gym
  • I have always loved to eat!!  But normally only ate 2 large meals a day

I graduated FSU in 2005 and went on to pursue a career in barbering after getting my barbers license in 2005.  This is when my style of staying fit and active went downhill.   I started to work almost 60 hours a week and was standing on my feet 10 hours a day.  Due to my busy work schedule, I would always just grab some quick fast food for lunch (Biggie size everything).  Then at dinner time I would constantly “reward” myself with a large meal.  Like I said I love to eat.

I was still staying a tad active, beer league softball league, a little bit of soccer, and play some basketball with my coworkers.  As my career progressed, so did my stomach.  I would constantly make excuses as to why I couldn’t stay active.  I was on my feet all day and I was tired.  I began to put on more and more weight and the only thing that was decreasing was my drive to be active.

My career continued to flourish and so did my pant size.  In 2009, I opened up my own barbershop.  It was so easy now to make excuses for eating fast food.  In my eyes, I was the busiest person in Tallahassee.  I was happy; I had my own shop, I was making money, and I was eating….and eating a lot!!

There was something missing.  I was not staying active?  Was it because I was too busy?  Absolutely not.  It was because I was fat and out of shape.  So I tried to diet.  I tried numerous different gimmicks on the market.  I did atkins, hydroxycut, south beach diet and a couple others.  None worked.  It was always a fad.  I would always go back to my same old ways of two extra large meals a day to fit into my busy schedule.

In November 2009, a couple months after I opened up my barbershop, I met Tim Durning, owner and founder of Flex Foods.  I explained to Tim my love for fried foods, eating a lot, and my lack of success in dieting.  I was missing my passions of playing sports and staying active.  I was weighing in at 290.  Well that was the highest I ever saw on the scale at least.  When I first moved to Tallahassee, I was probably around 210 and fit.

Tim suggested I try out his meals.  He also told me since I had grown such an attachment to eating out and bad, to eat his meals 5 days a week and have the weekends to myself.  This made a lot of sense to me.   I could have my 4 meals prepared, portioned properly, and delivered straight to my door.  This was perfect for my busy schedule.    Well a problem arose, there were some foods I was allergic to and some foods that I just did not like the taste of.  In my eyes it was problem but not in the eyes of Tim and Flex Foods.  Tim was able to cater my meals with my goals and my likes.

I will not lie, it was not easy at first.  I was on the diet plan and my calorie intake had dropped tremendously.   I stuck with it!   I would eat my heart out on Saturdays go and get my 30 fried wings on Sundays.   As time went on, my metabolism increased because of the 4 meals, my weight started to drop, but most important to me, my active lifestyle slowly started to reappear.

My lifestyle had changed.  I had the ability to control my intake on the weekends.  Flex Foods had changed my eating habits and the best part about it was the taste and convenience.  Since Flex, I have been more energized, more productive, and most importantly I feel and look way better than I did in 2009.  I am weighing in around 210lbs again (80lbs lost).  I have the energy to do the things that I love.  I am back on the soccer field playing 2-3 games every Sunday.   During the week I still work 60 hours but seem to have the energy to play the sports that I love.

Thanks so much to Tim Durning and the crew of Flex Foods for bringing me back.  Bringing me back from the heaviest I have ever been in my life.  Bringing me back from the worst I have ever felt.  I can now proudly say that I am active once again and I credit the wonderful convenience of tasty food, properly portioned delivered fresh to my door every day.

Flex Foods, I FEEL GREAT!!!
